This is a great album. My advice is buy it now. A wonderful album. It has the song from the Daybreakers trailer, other terrific songs too. Don't think. Buy it now.
I did buy it, though, and was truly surprised at how much I loved these songs and how much enjoyment I got out of them. The ballad "Angel" and also the song "Tears and Laughter" caught me right away for the sheer power of the lyrics. This soundtrack from the TV show BONES is at once atmospheric, inspiring, and beautifully bittersweet. They genuinely articulate feelings of love, doubt, loneliness, and estrangement. That is why is appreciate a collection like this over a more fun and lighthearted set.Overall, this soundtrack is a really good buy even if you are not a serious fan of the show.Personally, I would have loved to have even more when I was done going through the album. True, all the songs are slow and moody, and are not something groove or dance to, with the possible exception of the theme song. Really, really good.It is very hard for me to pick favorites from this collection because the songs are all really good and definitely worth owning on CD.
What BONES does really well, and what caught me right away, is the adept mixing of humor and really human drama. Other reviews lamented the lack of up-tempo songs on this CD, and this dampened my enthusiasm for purchasing it at first. The BONES theme is included both as the original 30-second segment played on TV and as a full-on 3-minute, 50-second remix that is a little on the long side, but still awesome.I recently discovered what a wonderful show BONES is, and I'm still fairly new to it. However, I think "heartfelt" would be a better description than "depressing" for this collection overall. They have a way of gripping you and lingering in your mind. This collection is a good representation of the dramatic and sometimes poignant side of the show - the real heart of it. Also, it is never referenced in which episodes the songs appeared, and that is something I would have liked to know.
When I got this cd I sat down and listened to it. I love it and would recommend this soundtrack to any Bones fans and any music fan. I love all the songs on this cd and listen to them when I can.
Actually I wish I could have a CD of all the music that is played during those episodes. I love the music played in the first two or three seasons during the different episodes. I love this CD. I play it daily in my home office as I type, or through the DVD player in the living room while I relax. I have all 4 seasons of Bones, which I have watched over and over. So to be able to buy a CD of some of that music was a really delightful surprise. It is at times melancholy, but always relaxing and returns me to the different episodes of Bones. I highly recommend it.
I guess I was hoping for something a bit more uptempo, but the songs on this CD are kind of depressing. If you are looking for songs that make you want to dance or that you can exercise to, this isn't for you. If you are looking for a CD to cool down or do yoga or meditation with, then this is a great CD.
